Greetings members of Wipe Faster my name is Owen, and below is my application for a chance to prove myself as a trial in Wipe Faster.
I realise the website is literally less than an hour old, and if this happens to be the wrong place to post this for some reason I have overlooked, then my apologies
Well then let's get started,
===================================================
Character Information
===================================================
Character Name: Tuvoc (Currently Melima, but I will be changing my name to Tuvoc, I have already reserved the name on Emeriss in the event my application is successful)
Race: Undecided (I am currently Night Elf, 2% miss ftw, and the obvious choice for when I return to the Horde is to be a Tauren, however I have never really been a huge fan of Tauren, and I love orcs, so I'm not really sure what I'm gonna' choose, I will most likely go for Tauren though)
Class: Warrior
Talent Spec: Protection
Professions: Mining/Jewelcrafting
Armory Link: eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Silvermoon&cn=Melima
Motivate shortly why you've picked your gear/gems/enchants:
I'll start with enchants. My reasons for using enchants such as the pvp enchant on shoulders instead of the Tanking one from Sons of Hodir is simply because I'm boosting my effective health, and the surplus defence from the Sons of Hodir enchant is not so much useless but unnecessary, and 30 stamina trumps the hodir enchant for effective health. That is also the reasoning behind the rest of my enchants, 275 health instead of 10 stats for example, 18 stamina on gloves instead of 10 parry rating & 2% threat. (Threat is not an issue for me, which made this decision much easier).
A contradiction here would be my Tuskarr's enchant, it is my belief the usefulness of 8% extra run speed far outweighs an extra 7 stamina, and it is very useful to me for various situations, one being that I am the slime kiter for my guild.
Gems, simply stacking stamina for the most effective health, using an expertise/sta gem to enable my meta. I also have a dodge/sta gem in my belt which is my only other non 30 sta gem, I've been wondering if I should remove it for a while, but I'm in the middle of a little experimentation with it and I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'm just gonna replace it with a stamina gem. (The reason for the expertise gem is simply that I don't like to miss my attacks, some tanks like to go full defensive and it's perfectly viable to do so, but I do like to have some expertise and hit rating, which along with previous money problems and having no access to sindragosa boots is the reason I use t10 legs and ram skull helm. (Still collecting frosties for 4set).
My gear, I love bonus armour, and use pieces with bonus armour as much as I can. I do switch around my gear depending on the encounter, for example I do have the armour bracers from DBS 10man, which I use on thing slike festergut and gormok heroic (I've only tanked him once but from my experience healing tanks on that fight I know how horribly spiky it can be), though on magic fights where I really don't need the armour I would just go with the bracers of dark reckoning. My gear choices have led me to have a nice balance of threat stats and balanced health/armour/avoidance. I'm very happy with my gear right now except for a few pieces like my weapon and shield, I would also prefer sindragosa boots to get enough expertise and defence so that I can use the pillars of might for my leg slot, as those things are godlike. But alas for the moment my hands are tied.

General Questions and Answers:
===================================================
Q: Why did you apply to Wipe Faster?
A: I have searched the realm forums from A-N and came across this guild on Emeriss, finally a guild that was recruiting my role/class and with the progression I wanted. Once I checked the website and read up on it and the realm Emeriss itself, it basically just fell into place and seemed like it would be perfect for me. I am tired of trying to find a place to settle down, Wotlk has been terrible on the guild front for me, I have yet to find a place with players I respect that can play properly and that also are decent people who don't have terrible attitudes or antisocial tendencies.
It is lucky that the one guild that was recruiting protection warriors with the progression I want seems to be on a decent realm with no gearscore whores, and from my first impressions I think this would be a great place to be.
Q: What do you expect from Wipe Faster?
A: Two things that I expect from any guild I join, Efficient progressive raiding, and a nice atmosphere created by nice people that don't shout swear and insult people for the slightest things. I've been raiding for years, and for example I've seen officers that seem to think that the officer tag is a licence to look down on people and treat them with disrespect like one of my old guilds, I'm tired of that kinda' thing and I just want officers that are mature and calm, and propose their criticisms and suggestions to people in a respectful yet necessarily firm way. Conversely I have seen officers that were too nice and forgiving, and weren't performing at the pinnacle of their class themselves. That is very important to me, just as much as having like minded people that want to kill bosses is to me.
Q: Why should Wipe Faster take you as member?
A: I have a vast experience of past and present encounters, although somewhat lacking in the very highest content of the moment due to my guild being less than amazing at raiding, vast experience of many classes and roles, I'm very easy to get along with, confident though I don't think I'm God's gift to WoW, and I'm a damn good tank. I make the odd mistake now and then, but it's rare, I learn very quickly, and I wouldn't apply to this guild which has more progress than my current one if I didn't think I could learn fast enough to not be a burden on the raid for content they have done many times and I haven't (ie LK).
Q: Do you know anyone in Wipe Faster able to guarantee and backup your application? If yes, who?
A: I am from a different realm, (Silvermoon) as such I have had no encounters with anyone from Wipe Faster except Euphemesia whom I talked to when I had a couple of questions about the website earlier on today.
Q: What do you feel should/could be changed to improve your class/spec?
A: I carry a range of different glyphs in my bags to suit different situations, taunt glyphs for bosses like Festergut/Suarfang etc, Cleave for heroics/maybe some trash/ Shield Wall if I think I'm gonna use it more than once in a fight.
My Spec is slightly altered on a regular basis, where I try out different things, but at it's core it's usually the same bar a few points. There are many mandatory talents all of us prot warriors have to take and it doesn't leave much room for "individualtiy" if any room at all. That is something I would like to see changed.
Improvements to the class that I think could be made by Blizzard, well, part of the reason I fell in love with this character is the instense methods of threat generation and ability usage. Some people don't like the constant HS/Cleave spamming but I love it, I love how there are so many different abilities I can use, if changes were to be made I would simply hope it wouldn't dumb down our class. Like the last change to devastate did knocking revenge out of the rotation, however I have begun to bring it back into my rotation simply to prepare for the coming patch where revenge will be massvely buffed.
I would of course love the AoE threat capabilities of a protection paladin, but that will never happen and Blizzard have already stated that is getting nerfed, but I am perfectly able to keep most mobs from aoe hungry dpsers at any time, of course against a prot paladin it can be quite difficult if it all possible to take some mobs off them without taunting, which goes against the tank code of honour on trash.
I think Protection warriors are in a good place right now and I like it the way it is, buffs are always welcome, but the current style of Prot warrior tanking is stimulating and fun, and I love it.
Q: Do you have a link to a WWS or WMO parsing that we can view, from a raid you attended?
A: Afraid not, I'll see if I can root around my guild forums and find one or ask someone if they have one.
Q: Were you part of any other guild in the past? If yes, why did you leave/want to leave those?
A: I have a long history that goes back to vanilla. I have only ever left two guilds, the rest I have been with until they disbanded, I left one guild because as stated earlier people were constantly insulting eachother and shouting at eachother on vent all the time and I found it hugely disrespectful (it wasn't directed at me as such, but seeing other people get flamed so much for nothing disgusted me).
The guild I am leaving now is for the following reasons: Too many members that are not fit for Icecrown raiding, they need to rethink their goals and abilities and try to improve themselves, some of the DPS and terrible mistakes I've seen over and over again is not acceptable, there are reasons we could barely ever reach phase 3 putricide. We can't progress at all and the damage done is irreparable, I don't see any way forward.
DPSers doing things like killing the IC weekly raid quest mob on Deathwhisper is just inexcusable, cancelling the 5% raid buff because you didn't read the text before clicking it, etc etc, stupid things like that along with constant mistakes and bad DPS.
We had a loot council, while I have no complaints about anything to do with me as there was no officer that was a plate tank like myself, so many times loot was distributed based on a popularity contest rather than usefulness. The officers vote in ochat, if an officer wanted something, nobody got it unless an officer didn't want it. They admitted they just voted and class mechanics or anything was irrelevant to their decisions, I found this laughable. Double standards all over the place, and their superior attitudes were certainly not justified by their performance. The guild master for example, a druid tank, considers himself a God. He didn't even have Demo roar on his bars, to say but one thing. He also tried to tell me druids weren't designed to have more health than any other tank.
That is a bit of a rant, but it just irritates me to no end how that place was run. I am only one of few who are in the middle of jumping ship.
Q: Have you had any high-end PvE experience in any other Massively Multiplayer Online game in the past? If yes, say where and on what.
A: Nope, WoW was my first and only MMO from when I started 4 years ago.
Q: Do you have anything that could influence negatively your playtimes?
A: One thing, once every two weeks I go to a clinic on a Monday from around 1900-2015 Game time. That would mean once every two weeks I would be a bit late on Mondays. This is for medical reasons and will not last forever, it should only continue for another couple of months.
Q: What kind of Internet connection do you have and what is your average MS/Ping?
A: I believe it was upgraded to 4MBPS, I usually play at around 50-150 MS, doesn't affect me at all.
Q: Did you read our Application FAQ? If no, go to read it, then come back, and write yes. Slacker.
A: Aye I did. Does that qualify as yes? Or do you want me to actually literally say "yes", in which case,"yes".
Q: Where did you see our recruitment post causing you to submit this application?
A: Realm Forums.

Tank Specific Questions and Answers: | Remove this entire block if this ain't your spec
===================================================
Q: What rotation do you use to maximize TPS?
A: Heroic Strike is spammed non stop when I have a constant supply of rage (ie tanking a boss), Shield Slam is priority and is kept on cooldown, 2nd priority is Showckwave, 3rd is devastate (of course getting up 5 stacks of sunder is a piriority, but keeping the boss on me the first few seconds is more important, and 5 stacks are applied within 10 seconds maximum). As said earlier I have begun including revenge in my rotation simply to get ready for 3.3.3 at a priority under shockwave but above devastate.
Q: What kind of TPS can you do during Patchwerk on heroic difficulty?
A: TPS can be quite spiky depending on luck, but I can consistently keep it above 10k single target if I have a good supply of rage.
Q: What are the important things to keep in mind for your class to maximize TPS?
A: Pay attention to your cooldowns, practice like hell until your priority system become ssecond nature and you don't have to think about it, balance your threat stats nicely but never at the cost of too much defensive stats. Give vigilance to the DPSer with the highest TPS. I use expertise food to bring me close to the softcap.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Do you have anything to add to your application that you would like us to know? You can leave this blank.
A: I'm totally wrecked now after writing that stuff. I know there's a ton of other stuff I could say, and I have thought about it in my head many times, a lot of them have slipped my mind for the moment, but I'll just mention my character history and alts quickly.
Vanilla: Played as a hutner throughout Vanilla.
TBC: Rerolled a Holy priest, loved it, guild fell apart, rerolled Horde Orc shaman on friend's server to start fresh, raiding for most of TBC with this, then my guild fell apart and I took the opportunity to try some Caster DPS, rerolled a warlock and Cleared Sunwell with that lock. The one button rotation bored the hell out of me and I welcomed the chance to reroll in Wotlk.
WOTLK: Started a Death knight to try melee DPS, loved it, my guild fell apart before Uld came out, I took a break and returned to my priest as I missed healing, I raided Totc25 and Totgc25 with that priest, I was growing terribly bored of it and decided to make a character I have always wanted in a final attempt to find a character I would fall in love with that would reignite my passion for wow and raiding, a little pink haired gnome warrior. I got to 80 as dps, I was frustrated trying to find groups as a dps warrior so I gave protection a try - that was it. Instantly I knew this was it. I loved the responsibility of being a tank, I loved the warriro style, everything about it made me enjoy the game so much more and I played that alt so much I eventually left that guild I was in on my priest (The one with assholes in it) to start a new life as a Warrior tank. I quickly geared up through PuGs, learned the ropes through 100s of heroics and pugs raids, and I am still to this day enjoying it as much as when I first rolled Protection.
Words can't describe how much I love my warrior.
So, I have an 80 DK, 80 Priest, 80 Warrior, 71 Warlock, 70 Rogue. (My shaman and hunter are long gone, was another account).
That is most of my story, if there are any questions, I will answer as best I can, and if there is anything I have forgotten I will be sure to edit it in; thanks for taking the time to read this, and whatever you choose to do I wish you the very best of luck,
farewell,
Owen.
Amazing application!
I really hope the rest of the players who are going to post here take a look at ur appli as an example.
I vote for you man.I can see the potencial and the dedication you've got.Your experience is more than enough and I can see you know everything about ur class from what I read which most of the new raid generation didn't impress me.
Good luck with your application. I hope to see you raiding with us soon.
First app on our new website.... just like an real app should look like
ACCEPTED
Throw an officer a whisper ingame for an invite once you're transferred.
That'd be Euphemia, Kyle, Keldorn, Svik or Clue atm.
